Barry Clayton
ABOUT
With a career in clerking spanning over 46 years, Barry is one of the most senior clerks in the country. After 36 years in a leading chancery and commercial set, Barry took over the reigns at Warwick House Chambers in April 2004. He is a member of the Institute of Barristers' Clerks, where he has been a committee member at junior, senior and executive levels. He was until recently the clerk representative on the Chancery Division Court Users' Committee, chaired by the Right Honourable Sir Andrew Morritt.
Over the years, Barry has had contact with numerous people in the legal profession, leading one solicitor to ask: "Is there anyone you don't know?"
Barry was recently awarded a lifetime achievement award, at the Chambers Bar Awards 2008, in recognition of his long service to the legal profession.
