Crispin Hayhoe


EXPERTISE

Crispin has a mixed civil and criminal practice. His civil practice is focused on Insolvency, Land and Employment. He has acted for the Department for Work and Pensions and for HM Revenue and Customs in criminal matters.  He has also defended in both the Magistrates and Crown Courts. Crispin has appeared in the County Court and the High Court in insolvency, property and judicial review proceedings.

ABOUT

Crispin was called to the bar in 2004 and completed pupillages at 9 Stone Buildings and Warwick House Chambers.

Crispin is an accountant and was a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner. Before coming to the bar Crispin acted as the Finance or Commercial Director for a number of companies in the music and entertainment business and worked for the Corporate Recovery practice of what is now PricewaterhouseCoopers ("PwC"). At PwC he was the Senior Manager dealing with the Atlantic Computers/British & Commonwealth litigation (which resulted in the largest mediated settlement in British legal history) and de-structuring the Maxwell Communications Group (a worldwide group of over 400 companies). He also drafted expert witness reports for the Inland Revenue in relation to criminal proceedings against delinquent directors involved in corporate fraud. Crispin managed a wide variety of assignments in his time at PwC including ones in the insurance, printing, retailing, leasing, clothing (both manufacturing and retailing) and professional service sectors. Crispin was involved in dealing with the regulatory authorities for the national insolvency practice and preparing submissions to the EU competition authorities.

As a Finance Director Crispin was involved in the raising of several rounds of private equity funding and the acquisition of other businesses.

Crispin has had extensive experience of insolvency and business matters and is able to offer commercial cost effective advice in a wide variety of areas.

Crispin is the Finance Director of the Enterprise Forum (an unremunerated position), a national body promoting discussions between business and the Conservative Party, and a Trustee of the Worth Old Boys Society (a charity).
